IMPROVE YOUR CREDIT REPORT
There are many ways that you can improve your chances of being accepted for credit, some of the things you can do are below:
- If any of the information recorded on your report is wrong or out of date, get this corrected! Do this by contacting the company who recorded the information in the first place, or ask the Credit Reference Agency to contact them on your behalf.
- If you’ve got information such as CCJs or defaults, try to pay these and make sure that this is updated in your report.
- Don’t make any more than 2 applications for credit every 6 months.
- Close down any accounts that you no longer use and make sure this gets updated in your report.

If you are no longer connected to other people listed in your report, such as an ex partner, get a “disassociation”, which will remove this connection. To do this write to the Credit Reference Agency that recorded the association.
Add a “Notice of Correction” to items on your report which look bad to explain why this happened. Write a statement no more than 200 words long explaining the situation when the data was recorded and send this to the Credit Reference Agency.
